Partners Interview – Vegaplant

Today, we interview our partner Vegaplant, an agricultural company with over 30 years of experience, dedicated to conventional vegetable production, with a focus on broccoli.

 

  1. We have been cultivating this vegetable for about 32 years; it was one of our first crops, and to this day, production has been increasing.
  2. What catches our attention the most is the variety of properties this vegetable possesses and its versatility in consumption. You can cook it and create a wide range of recipes—whether elaborate or simple—and even if you don’t have time to cook, you can eat it raw.
  3. Thanks to the trend we have observed in recent years towards consuming healthy foods, it is expected that the consumption of this vegetable will also grow. More and more children are starting to eat vegetables from a young age, and this trend should lead to increased consumption in the future, especially considering the excellent nutritional benefits of this vegetable. Campaigns targeting children are essential to promote the consumption of these types of foods, as evidenced by those carried out by the association, drawing attention to the benefits of their consumption.
  4. Our activity marks the beginning of the cultivation cycle for many products. We plant the seeds, germinate them, and cultivate them within our greenhouses, providing each plant with the resources it needs for optimal growth. After the plants are ready for transplantation, we transport them to various cultivation points for each of our customers. Our competitive advantages lie in the care we give to the plants and the services we provide.
  5. The shift in dietary trends is evident, as mentioned before. Society is becoming increasingly aware of the importance of taking care of oneself, both in terms of exercise and nutrition. Thanks to this, the consumption of vegetables is on the rise, and we hope it continues in the future, as it directly benefits the entire sector and is very positive for health.
  6. We have been collaborating with this association since 2016, and one of the things we appreciate the most is the effort made to reach so many people and promote awareness of this vegetable. Unfortunately, some people do not appreciate it because they are unaware of its versatility in consumption. Emphasizing this to children is particularly important, and we consider it one of the most crucial aspects.
  7. One of our favorite dishes is pasta with broccoli sauce, cream, spring onions, and anchovies. To make the sauce, we sauté broccoli with spring onions, salt, and pepper to taste, and add cream. When it thickens, we add anchovies and combine it with our favorite pasta.
