+Broccoli brings healthy eating to more than 1,000 children at the Tudela Vegetable Festival

  • They conducted a Family Nutrition Workshop ‘How to cook broccoli to take advantage of all its virtues.’

+Brócoli has returned this year to the Vegetable Festival of Tudela to promote the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and disseminate the benefits of broccoli among the students of the locality’s schools. In this way, the association demonstrates its commitment to these festivals once again.

Between April 25th and May 5th, more than 1,000 students from 6 schools discovered broccoli and the interactive game of La Pandi, the CSR project of Sakata Seed Ibérica. A total of 40 workshops were conducted by a team of nutritionists to ensure the best education for the students.

Broccoli is one of the most cultivated vegetables in the area, and therefore, in collaboration with FHF Fontellas and Sakata Seed Ibérica, the association worked with its partners to disseminate the benefits of this vegetable through workshops led by professional nutritionists. +Brócoli thanks, once again, for the warm welcome and treatment received.

Family Nutrition Workshop ‘How to cook broccoli to take advantage of all its virtues’

Broccoli is a superfood with great nutritional value: vitamin A, beta-carotene, niacin, vitamin B1, B2, B6, E, folic acid, and vitamin C. It also has a detoxifying and satiating effect, strengthens our defenses, and has a protective effect against cancer.

Therefore, it is essential to lose as few nutrients as possible during cooking. In the workshop on Family Nutrition ‘How to cook broccoli to take advantage of all its virtues,’ held on April 27th, we provided advice to all attendees on how to cook this vegetable to make the most of its nutritional value. One piece of advice is not to overcook it; for example, boiling it for 3 to 4 minutes is more than enough because when broccoli becomes too dark, it loses a large amount of its nutrients.
